A simple Dell upgrade
I decided I was tired of using my Bluetooth adapter and decided to order the Dell bluetooth module. The Dell Rep assured me it was a simple install. As you can see from the picture a simple install is taking the whole damn system apart! Once again I have more ammunition as to why I should not have any dell products. Call me crazy but I am a firm believer that installing a module should not require removing a screen from a system.

Well, it could be worse. Last time I got a Dell laptop that disassembled it refused to boot afterward.
(And you got a Dell Rep on the phone? And you didn’t get “disconnected”? Twice.)

Hey Aaron,
- Germany.
your report sounds worse. But I am still interested in upgrading my Inspiron 8600 too. So where did you find the upgrade module. I have searched Dell’s website and although the whole Internet (so I found your Website) but I could not find it.
Or could you maybe tell me the price of the module that I can decide, if effort is worthwhile.
At last sorry for my bad English, I am from - the old Europe
Regards,
Manuel

In all honesty here it took me a few minutes to plug in the card. It was a case of:
Remove keyboard
Remove around 10 screws from bottom of laptop
Unclip front
Plug in bluetooth card
Clip togehter and replace screws and keyboard
There is no necessity to remove the screen. The case can be opened more than enough to insert the bluetooth card without even having to totally remove the palm rest.
Obviously you’re not a techie that is used to replacing components without pulling the whole appliance apart.

Did you do this on a D600? I tried to do it first without following the but could not get the module in place with the screen on.
It is true, I do not take laptops apart often and I have little experience upgrading them.
