Wii

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Being the wild crazy guy I am I was up this morning at 7AM which is pretty much my usual time to wake up. Matt really wanted to pick up a Nintendo Wii so I went over with him Target to pick one up. When we got to Target there was alredy 200 people in line and we thought maybe we missed out. Then after a few minutes a person from Target came walking buy hanging out tickets. Seemes they had about 215 and we made it. To be honest I do not really want one but I went ahead and picked one up because I have a friend who wants one very bad. Now if only he would wake up so I could tell him I need to deliver his Wii to him tomorrow, and he ows me a check.

I have to hand it to target they had a great system. Once we had the ticket it was guaranteed until noon and we could go. It worked out well cause Matt and I badly needed some coffee and breakfast.

Ubuntu and the tradition

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Most the tech readers of this blog will see the title and assume this is about Ubuntu Linux.???? I am a fan but this is about the word more then the software that runs on computers.

I was listening to ???????The World??????? (http://www.theworld.org/) on NPR the other week driving some place and there was a great story titled: Africa report, not a great title but read the summary:

Former President Bill Clinton last month urged British politicians to adopt the South African philosophy of interdependence, called “ubuntu”. Reporter Amy Costello explains the tradition.

Listen to the report (4:10)

I think in after this much heated political season we would all be helped if the people in Washington worked to adopt this philosophy. Come to think of it, I think just about everyone would be helped if more people adopted this philosophy.
